Truly an Operational Force

Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, Chief, Army Reserve, and Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command gives Keith Eugene Fiscus, a Wal-Mart greeter, a coin on Veterans' Day. Fiscus, 83, was captured by German forces and taken as a prisoner of war to Dachau concentration camp in Germany.

WASHINGTON - Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, chief of the Army Reserve, answered questions from online journalists and bloggers Jan. 28.

"This is no longer, the Army Reserve that I came into way back in '79 that said, 'One weekend a month, two weeks in the summer; that's all we ask.' This truly is an operational force," Stultz, who is also commanding general United States Army Reserve Command, told journalists during the conference call.

Stultz talked about his recent trips to Iraq and Afghanistan and the operational role of the Army Reserve in today's U.S. Army. He also spoke of the employer partner initiative he began about a year ago.
